Turning community challenges into opportunities to Make History.
Making History brings together nonprofits, teams, and communities to tackle real challenges—then share what they learn through powerful stories as part of Democracy 2026 (D2026).
What “Making History” means here
In this initiative, Making History doesn’t mean fame. It means doing something real that moves a community forward—and making that progress visible so others can learn from it.
A Making History project is built around a specific challenge, a committed nonprofit or community partner, and a team of people who are ready to act. Together, they define clear goals, small experiments, and visible milestones. Human+AI collaboration is used wherever it can help people think more clearly, decide more wisely, and communicate more effectively.
Each project is local and concrete. Taken together, they form a bigger story about how people can reclaim agency in their communities during Democracy 2026 and beyond.
How a Making History project works
While details vary by community and partner, most Making History projects follow a simple pattern:
- 1. Define the challenge. A nonprofit or community partner identifies a concrete challenge where additional energy and creativity could help.
- 2. Form a team. Individuals, students, or professionals join a team that commits to focused work over a defined period.
- 3. Use human+AI tools. Teams use structured human+AI collaboration to explore options, design experiments, and plan actions.
- 4. Take visible steps. The team runs small, practical experiments and records what worked, what didn’t, and what changed.
- 5. Share the story. Results are turned into short stories, examples, or templates that can be shared with other communities.
The point is not perfection. It’s visible, honest progress that others can learn from and build upon.
Who Making History is for
Making History is designed for people and organizations who want to move from talk to action:
- Nonprofits and community organizations with real challenges and a desire to experiment.
- Students, residents, and professionals who want to apply their skills to meaningful local projects.
- Storytellers and media partners who see value in sharing examples of practical, hopeful change.
- Sponsors and supporters who want to back visible, people-centered work during Democracy 2026.
Early pilots will help shape a model that can be adapted for other cities and regions.
How Making History connects to D2026
Making History is one of the three named initiatives within Democracy 2026 (D2026), alongside Your Journey in the AI Economy and It Takes a Global Village.
Together, these initiatives link personal growth, nonprofit impact, and global collaboration into one story about democratic renewal in the age of AI.
- Personal empowerment: Individuals build skills and agency through Your Journey in the AI Economy.
- Local impact: Teams and nonprofits Make History by tackling real challenges in their communities.
- Global learning: It Takes a Global Village connects communities so they can learn from each other’s breakthroughs.
